Ekiti grazing bill

Well a lot of noise has been made but I see Ekiti State has signed a bill into law as regards the Grazing reserves and Grazing routes.
it’s a fair bill…it allows grazing of cattle…in all LGAS in Ekiti…in specified grazing “reserves” but specifically prohibits grazing after 6pm….and outside those designated areas. It speaks to cattle owners paying compensation for farms destroyed. It also outlaws the carrying of arms by herdsmen…..a charge of terrorism to be applied if a herds man is found with arms.
Good start…..the objective must be to balance safety of lives with commerce…
I have written that this is a win win for both parties…..formalize and monitize the grazing system…Ekiti LGAs will provide land and veterinary care plus grass..and tax the herdsmen…
The herdsmen in return will have a safe place to rest, treat and fatten the cows before “trekking” to Lagos…perhaps an entrepreneur can set up an cattle market/Abbatoir…Kill and process the meat for sale in Lagos..the largest meat market in West Africa.
