Let me tell you a story.
A long time ago, in the kingdom of Nigi, there was a fearsome warrior named Tinu, who had an apprentice named Fasoro.
One day in the bush hunting, they came across a leopard, Tinu fought the Leopard, but was mortally wounded, so was the Leopard. Fasoro standing afar saw his master wounded and the Leopard dying, ran to the scene, drew his knife and thrust into the dying leopard head, as he did this another group of warriors came on the scene.
“look Fasoro. has killed the fearsome Leopard.” they shouted…
Fasoro. fame spread far and wide. The King of Nigi, hearing about Fasoro. exploits sent for him.
“Fasoro., I hear you killed the fearsome leopard, I give you land, my daughter and name you my key adviser, but I have a rabid dog in my market square that has terrorized the women go and kill it for me,”
Fasoro. went to the market place, saw the huge rabid dog, and ran away…
The dog remains in the market square….
Yesterday someone shared with me an article purported written by the Minister of Power, Housing and Works…in that article the super minister said “change” was the President moving from the back of a group photograph to the front of a group photograph with world leaders.
I refused to believe Babatunde Raji Fashola wrote that article, its cant be…Fashola? The SAN Technocrat? Celebrating positions in a photop? Mba! But in slept on it…and realized this was the same Fashola that said THE ONLY way to get power supply was to replace the alphabets, PDP with APC.
Same Fashola said “Let the EKO DISCOs sign a contract with me, giving part of their concessioning to the state government. In about six to eight months, there will be power in all homes in Lagos State.’Now he is Minister of Power, Eko DISCO is in Lagos, he was a Governor Lagos , the current Governor of Lagos is in hs party, they both want power supply in Lagos, it’s now more that 6 to 8 months…what happened Mr Fashola?
Mr Fashola I conclude has fallen victim to the virus spreading in Aso Rock called, “lets please Mr President (not the people)” Its clear that President Buhari trusts Fashola, Buhari has created the largest ministry in the history of Nigeria and handed it over to one man. Fashola’s responsibly are humongous, he has to provide Nigerians with homes, power those homes and build a road from those roads connecting the economy.
Its almost like killing a Leopard.
However under Mr Fashola watch, the trifecta of power, Generation, Transmission and Distribution are down, the Ikeja DISCO has been picketed and power supply has suffered to PHCN largest market, TCN has shut out its workers, Megawatt output went briefly to zero watts…yet Fashola has time to write on the relative position of presidents on photo op…. this is a classic case of “lets please Mr President (not the people)”.
Lai Muhammed also has these symptoms. Even the most causal of glances showed the 2016 budget was padded. Yet Mr Lai came out and said, “the budget is not padded” …why would he do this? “let’s please Mr President (not the people)”.
Mr Femi Adeshina the Media aide to Mr President case is advanced, he was asked as a representative of the President about poor power supply, his response? Those “people” that are complaining should go and hold those blowing up the pipelines…his case is gone.
The problem with the virus is this, it give Mr President a bad name….Mr President has delegated authority to these Ministers and spokesmen, but he cant delegate responsibility…ultimately the buck stops on his table.
I have said this before , and I repeat, The success (or failure) of President Buhari will not be by how many corrupt people he jails by 2019, but mostly by how many megawatts gets to the people to enable them create jobs and build wealth, anyone saying otherwise to Mr President has the virus.
Mr Fashola should please maintain his lane, and kill the rabid dog given to him to kill…
Leave the politics alone sir, fulfill the trust placed in you, it’s not impossible,
it’s our problem, but I believe you of all people have the means to fix it…
