The Socialist battle the Capitalist over Petrol Prices

The fuel scarcity you see today are simply the effects of a battle between Socialism and Capitalism in Nigeria at the moment.
There is plenty of petrol….if you drive you see petrol being hawked on the streets….but there is no petrol at N86.50. The scarcity is because the Socialists want petrol at N86.50 and the Capitalist say no…..at that price that make no margins. Thus fuel imports have been allocated to the NNPC …..because the private sector….the Capitalist wont touch it….but the NNPC is owned by us, we are ultimately subsidizing the NNPC to inefficiency import petrol.
So ask yourself, since you were on this Gods earth has the FGN ever delivered any service or product efficiently? Is it not a fools errand to assume the government can efficiently import and distribute petrol?
So like I have always say, fuel lines will soon dissappear. ….but they will reappear….because we have not solved the fundamentals.
The government has no time or skill to deploy in the business of importation and sale of petrol…….the government should delegate that opportunity to the Private Sector then regulate and tax the private sector.
Its important the government liberalizes the downstream sector. …passes the necessary laws including the PIB and allow market efficiency dictate costs.
Long term competition will drive down prices..not Central Planning
Its our problem, we can fix it
